The heat wave has been crazy this past week, and the main thing that got me through last summer was a refreshing watermelon slushie! And this time, I wanted to make a twist on it with another one of my favorite drinks – lemonade! Read on to see how to make this oh-so-simple cooling delight!
What you’ll need:
- Watermelon (1/2), cubed, serves 5
- Cutting board
- Kitchen knife
- 3 tbsp white granulated sugar
- Ice cube tray
- Lemonade (homemade or store-bought)
- Lemon (sliced, for garnish)
- Mint leaf
Step 1: Cut the watermelon into chunks! Have some pity on your blender and make it as easy as possible (for the both of you 😉 ).
Step 2: Admire that beauty! That color! That juiciness that makes you sample it before anything even makes it in the blender! Feel free to skip this step, heh.
Step 3: Once you’ve added as much watermelon as possible and still have the lid fit, add a little bit of sugar to help sweeten up the whole drink. I used 3 tbsp of white, granulated sugar but you can adjust to taste.
Step 4: Blend ‘er up! I kept adding more watermelon as the existing pieces leveled out, and added about a quarter to half watermelon.
Step 5: Freeze some ice cubes! You might want to do this like, right now if you have the chance. They take about 4 hours to freeze, so be prepared! Fill the ice cube tray with lemonade to add a little tang to the watermelon juice.
Step 6: Garnish it! Once the ice cubes had frozen, I added them to the watermelon juice, then added a mint leaf for color and aroma.
Step 7: Add a thin lemon slice to add zesty brightness and to accentuate that lemonade flavor in the drink!
Aaaand that’s it! I hope you try this summer refresher – it’s cool, sweet, and (relatively) healthy too! Visit a few other posts for delicious dessert and darnedy-fun DIY projectss! xoxo
