This watermelon spice has lovely savory flavor! It’s easy to make, with ingredients you probably have in the kitchen already. It was so fun to see the spice disappearing at the get-together and seeing people enjoy this summer dessert! When it gets hot, just throw together this little food DIY and add flavor to your cool summer fruits. It’s awesome to make for a large gathering, or just for a few friends who stop by. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
What you’ll need:
- Watermelon (or summer fruits)
- Cutting board
- Cutting knife
- Mortar & pestle
- 1 tbsp kosher salt
- 1 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 lime, zested and juiced
Step 1: Prep the fruits you want to eat! I took half a watermelon and chopped them into bite size cubes.
Step 2: Mix 1 tbsp kosher salt, 1.5 tsp chili powder, and the zest of 1 lime!
Step 3: Grind the ingredients together with your pestle. If you don’t have a mortar and pestle, you can just mix it together with whatever you have on hand!
Step 4: Take a half lime and squeeze it over the fruit.
Step 5: Sprinkle the mix over the watermelon pieces!
Step 6: Garnish the top with lime wedges from the other half of the lime!
Aaaand that’s it! I love the color that the spice adds to the fruit, and am having so much fun imagining the fruit combinations I can create to sprinkle this on. I hope you like this recipe and enjoy!
